Short-Time Only: 8 Second Timer

We’ve noticed that occasionally some other traffic exchanges reduce their timers as a reward and incentive to their members. Some of these exchanges are rather popular and their members appear to enjoy the reduced timer countdown from time to time. So, we thought we’d give it a shot for a few days and see what our citizens think of the idea. We definitely want to hear what you have to say about this subject, because we love to hear from our loyal subjects. Let us know whether you like it or not, and don’t hesitate to elaborate as to why you hold such an opinion.

I have used other Traffic exchanges that do shorten their timer. I like getting more credits, but the down side is that some sites don’t load in less than 10 sec. I also think it’s wrong to cut the timer when a customer has paid for advertising at 10 sec. and find out the timer has been shortened. I’m not sure if this really happens or not, because I haven’t paid for advertisement on traffic exchanges, I was just wondering if anyone has run into this problem ? I personally like the 10 sec. timer and think it is reasonable time to show my sites.

A good splash page should only take a second or two to load. Pages with fancy Flash movies and such are not appropriate for traffic exchanges. A surfer is not inclined to watch a lengthy sales presentation. A good splash page should quickly grab the surfers’ Attention, arouse their Curiosity, and compel then to take Action - click through on a link or submit a short capture form. 8 seconds is more than enough time to grab a viewer’s attention. Many surfers use Firefox with NoScript, so they don’t see the Flash junk anyway.

I like the 8 sec. timer. Even 9 sec. would be fine, as Royal is usually 1 or 2 seconds behind other 10 sec. TE’s except Dragon Surf.

I agree with Ken, we all should be using splash pages as they load faster. And if the splash doesn’t capture surfer’s attention, it’s either too wordy, or their just not interested.
